Replacement treads are the perfect solution for remodeling projects or new construction where the construction stairs is already built with spacing for carpeting. The body of the replacement tread is a full 3/4" thick and the nose a full 1" thick.
A consistent rise is important because when a person is going up ( ascending) or down (descending) the stairs the amount that they lift their foot needs to be the same for every step. In fact most codes allow no more than 3/8" of difference between
treads on a stair system. The 3/4" body of the replacement tread is approximately the same thickness as carpeting and padding which keeps a consistent rise to the existing stairway.
